As of 2.6.21, you can do modprobe foo_driver echo 34ca d365 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/foo_driver/new_id I tried to figure it out, and wrote it up at "http://jk.ufisa.uninett.no/usb/". Not very user friendly, though. Suggestions for improving my writeup are most welcome, btw.
