hiddev and input devices (PS3 sixaxis)

Heya, I'm trying to port a rework of the sixpair program (used to get info from the sixaxis PS3 pads, and automatically register them as Bluetooth devices) from using libusb to using hiddev (so that the device isn't disconnected when we get info from it). The current (libusb) code is attached. The problem I have is while the device works correctly in jstest, no hiddev devices are created for it (they get created properly for my Logitech dongle though). Any ideas how I can work-around that problem, so I can freely poke at the device without disconnecting it from its driver? (Or, if I need to disconnect it from its driver, how would I get the kernel to reattach the driver to the device once I'm done?) Cheers PS: Please CC: me on the replies as I'm not subscribed to the list ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: The Future of Linux Business White Paper from Novell.
