It's not a question of damage.  That URL I specified provides an HTML 
web page.  You can't apply HTML code as a patch since it contains lots 
of escape sequences (like "&gt;" for ">").  Instead you have to follow 
the "Raw" link near the start of the page to get the message and patch 
in their original form.
