The device is an emulated external CD-Rom. The reason I'd like to have a parameter or some other user-space input is so that the user can enable/ disable a feature in the driver without having to re-compile the driver. Also, later on in the future it would be nice for the driver to access more information on the system regarding device configuration (ideally all aggregated in one file) which would then dictate how the driver loads the device. I suppose one way to do this would be to create a user space daemon that watches the usb devices and controls it via libusb. > A quick description of your environment (target kernel version, > distribution, etc) won't go amiss.
