First Release Candidate (RC1) for next version 5.39

Dear Smartmontools users,

it has been a long time, since we released the
last version of Smartmontools, which was version 5.38
dated on 10th of March in 2008.

A lot of new features and enhancements were
added since then (See NEWS[1] for a summary listing),
but are only available at the time for users, who 
install Smartmontools from sourcecode in our 
subversion repository[2].

Now we prepare the next release 5.39.
A first release candidate is available here:

There might be open issues on Linux with Areca ...

We are very interested in your test results! 

Please open a new ticket[3] or add comments to existing tickets[4], 
if you find errors. Positive feedback is also welcome on our
mailinglist[5].

Thanks in advance to all testers. We highly appreciate, 
if the package maintainers subscribed here, feed the 
release candidate to experimental branches of their distributions, 
to broaden the testers group and also to get
notification of package build issues if any happen.
