Hi folks, I configured /etc/smartd.conf in this way /dev/sda -s (S/../.././02|L/../../7/04) -m [email protected] -M exec /usr/share/smartmontools/smartd-runner /dev/sda -s (S/../.././11) -m [email protected] -M exec /usr/share/smartmontools/smartd-runner /dev/sda -s (S/../.././14) -m [email protected] -M exec /usr/share/smartmontools/smartd-runner /dev/sda -s (S/../.././17) -m [email protected] -M exec /usr/share/smartmontools/smartd-runner for all the devices from sda to sdl. sda and sdb are attached to the builtin controller of the Dell server but, from sdc on, disks are behind a LSI HBA 9205-8e. In /var/lib/smartd.log I only see the following [...] May 12 02:23:41 grpnas02 smartd[20229]: Device: /dev/sda [SAT], starting scheduled Short Self-Test. May 12 02:23:41 grpnas02 smartd[20229]: Device: /dev/sda [SAT], self-test in progress, 90% remaining May 12 02:23:42 smartd[20229]: last message repeated 2 times May 12 02:23:42 grpnas02 smartd[20229]: Device: /dev/sdb [SAT], starting scheduled Short Self-Test. May 12 02:24:03 grpnas02 smartd[20229]: Device: /dev/sdl, starting scheduled Short Self-Test. [...] I need to parse the output to check for errors especially for reallocation of sectors. Where to find them? BTW is there any guidelines for evaluating thresholds beyond which to be concerned about sector reallocation? I have hard time in tracking the temperature of disks and I think reallocation of sectors maybe a more precise indicators of incoming failures.
