Thank you. -d sat,12 worked pretty well. However, I got these errors at the end of the output:


Read SMART Log Directory failed: scsi error medium or hardware error (serious)

Read SMART Error Log failed: scsi error medium or hardware error (serious)

Read SMART Self-test Log failed: scsi error medium or hardware error (serious)

Read SMART Selective Self-test Log failed: scsi error medium or hardware error (serious)

I was still able to get the attributes like read error and seek error, etc.

-x vs -a didn't make a huge difference.

Also on Mac OS X 10.9.3, smartctl 6.2 2013-07-26 r3841 [x86_64-apple-darwin13.0.0] (local build), this did not work: Smartctl open device: /dev/disk4 [SAT] failed: Invalid argument
