Corrupted Smart Report on Spun Down Areca Connected Drive

I am having an issue that running a smart report on an Areca connected
drive is producing an errant Smart report. Running it a second time
produces correct results. Since I am using smartctl within a script, this
is causing me some problems. I expect this has to do with the drive being
spun down, but on other controllers the drive is simply spun up and results
are slightly delayed but accurate. This is the only controller I have seen
where the results are inaccurate when run on a sleeping drive. Although I
am working on a work-around, I wanted to report the issue as I saw no
reference to this while Googling.

This is happening on ARC-1200, ARC-1230 and ARC-1231ML controllers, which
are the only ones i have to test with. I expect other (all?) Areca
controllers are similarly affected.

If I can help in any way with this resolution (as I have these controllers
and can easily run tests), please let me know. I have over 30 years of IT
and programming experience. BTW, I am running this on Linux.

I want to thank you for the time invested into this excellent tool! It is
very invaluable to me and my colleagues!!

Brian
