Error SMART Status command failed - hdd missing/wrong version in database?

Hi, I got a FreeBSD 10.1 here with smartmontools-6.4. The server got 8 Western Digital Red 4TB hard drives, all new, connected via Marvell 88SE9230 sata controllers. Now smartctl -H is failing on _some_ of the drives with someting like === START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION === Error SMART Status command failed Please get assistance from http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ Register values returned from SMART Status command are: CMD=0xb0 FR =0xda NS =0xf7b7 SC =0x64 CL =0x53 CH =0x78 RETURN =0x0000 but the actual SMART data looks perfect (as expected from new drives). ive seen the drives in the database, but the firmeware on my drives in newer (WDC WD40EFRX-68WT0N0/80.00A80 in database, WDC WD40EFRX-68WT0N0/82.00A82 here). attached is the output of the steps described in the "My ATA drive is not in the smartctl/smartd database" section of the FAQ. hopping for help, cheers /daniel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Smartmontools-support mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/smartmontools-support
