Looks like the ATA pass-through implementation in the Windows driver of 
the SATA controller is broken.

Which controller is used?

Does the 64-bit version of smartctl return similar results?

For further diagnostics, please provide output of "smartctl -r ioctl,2 
-a ..." as an attachment.
