Hi, Still after commenting out DEVICESCAN, the test section did not get executed. My conf file has only one line /dev/hda -S on -H -l selftest -o on -m <nomailer> -M exec "D:\Interfaces\Utils\SmartdMsg.exe" -M test Do I need to set any environment variable to simulate the test scenario? Here this smartd.conf after removing blank and comment lines: DEVICESCAN /dev/hda -S on -H -l selftest -o on -m <nomailer> -M exec "D:\Interfaces\Utils\SmartdMsg.exe" -M test The 2nd line has no effect. See smartd.conf man page: "If a non-comment entry in the configuration file is the text string DEVICESCAN in capital letters, then smartd will ignore any remaining lines in the configuration file, and will scan for devices."
