Hmm, this is a little more difficult. As you should be noted, this is a internet gateway running pfSense. I was trying to collect SMART data to Zabbix, since it is in a production environment. I need to schedule this procedure out of business hours. But your assumption about a driver issue does make sense, since I really don't know how well supported are FreeBSD drivers. I'll try to use a Live Distro running Linux to check what happens. --- Diego Queiroz On Mon, Mar 7, 2016 at 3:37 AM, Christian Franke < [email protected]> wrote: > Diego Queiroz wrote: > >> Here is the file. >> >> It seems there are only zeros in the threshoulds data. >> >> >> Is this normal? >> > > No. If only zeroes are returned, this would typically be a driver bug > (e.g. data not copied to user space buffer). > > But in this case, a correct empty thresholds block with version number > (first byte) and checksum (last byte) is returned: > > ===== [SMART READ ATTRIBUTE THRESHOLDS] DATA START (BASE-16) ===== > 000-015: 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ... > ... > 496-511: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ff ... > ===== [SMART READ ATTRIBUTE THRESHOLDS] DATA END (512 Bytes) ===== > > This possibly means that the drive does not support SMART READ THRESHOLDS. > From the ATA standards point of view this is OK, as this command was > declared obsolete in ATA-4 (~1998). > > Could you possibly test this drive on another machine and/or with > different OS? > > Thanks, > Christian > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Transform Data into Opportunity.
