I notice that the normalised value of Western Digital's Power_On_Hours_Count attribute appears to reflect the drive's remaining life in months. It begins life with 100 months and then decrements this attribute by 1 for each month of run time. For example, one WD1600AAJS model has a POH count of 56 (= 100 - 44). The hours count of 32377 corresponds to 44.35 months. Another drive has recorded 33585 hours and a value of 54 (= 100 - 46). Once again the hours count corresponds to 46.01 months. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
