Thank you. This is a user space solution, with the benefit that it is 
not limited to Linux. I think that it would be good to mention this at 
https://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/Raspberry_Pi and perhaps also 
add some pictures.

That page currently mentions a minimal IR receiver for the Raspberry Pi: 
a 3-pin IR receiver module connected to the GPIO header. Because the 
Linux kernel already includes a number of IR protocol drivers, there is 
no need to install any user-space lircd driver (or input plugin) if you 
are using a recent enough version of VDR.
