Regarding $ uname -a Linux ps11007 3.1.9-vs2.3.2.5vs2.3.2.5+ #3 SMP Wed Feb 12 13:51:29 PST 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux As in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=842879#85 I now tell the procps maintainer that if he always read /proc/uptime instead of /proc/stat, the ps command would always report the correct values on any system, virtualized or not.
