I wouldn't; v3 to v4 is a change from the 2.4 kernel to the 2.6 kernel.
I've had trouble doing that in the past.

If you can get at the box, just use the WBEL4 CDs & tell it to upgrade
your installation. I've done this on all but one of my boxes :-)
