None, but I also don't claim to have. Then again, neither has WBEL, it's just rerolled RHEL. I don't equate rebuilding source RPMs to building an OS. The only changes are in wording and logos to satisfy the RH legal requirements, and removing some non GPL packages. I am not sure what politics transpired between the WBEL crowd and the CentOS crowd, but lagging a year behind them is beyond sad. Just hang your WBEL hat up and move on. You lost the free Enterprise Linux race by a country mile. WBEL should seriously consider dropping the "Enterprise" portion of their name and call it White Box Hobby Linux or something, maybe Last Year's Enterprise Linux, LYEL for short. While Enterprise release cycles are much slower than bleeding edge releases like Fedora, not having the current release version available for two years after the parent distro is almost laughable (RHEL 5 released 2/28/07). What is the point? How can anyone trust that WBEL will make updates available in a timely fashion given these kinds of lags? For that matter, how can anyone take WBEL seriously with lapses like that? People running WBEL should be living in fear that their servers will be ravaged by the next zero day exploit for weeks or months before WBEL gets around to releasing an update. -----Original Message----- From: Multisys, Jim [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, February 28, 2009 3:52 PM To: Mark A. Wow, only a year after CentOS 5..... How proud you the WBEL team must be! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Vic Sent: Saturday, February 28, 2009 1:23 PM To: Carl Krauthauser Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WBEL-users] WBEL-5 ??? Hello Carl, > Please let me know if > there is and impending release of a WBEL-5. Thanks! There is - I'm running it in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavours. The release is delayed somewhat by the fact that I'm broke & I need to find some paying work. But once that's settled, there'll be a nice shiney WBEL5 to play with :-) Vic. _______________________________________________ Whitebox-users mailing list [email protected] http://beau.org/mailman/listinfo/whitebox-users _______________________________________________ Whitebox-users mailing list [email protected] http://beau.org/mailman/listinfo/whitebox-users
