I think that comment referring to the special iptables version was left in
by mistake. It really only applied to wolk4.0s-pre6, where NAT (and possible
mangle) didn't work with anything but the specified iptables version. The
patches that caused the incompatibility with non-developer versions of
iptables were removed later, so the worst case scenario is that some
optional features (e.g. SNMP NAT or pool matching or somesuch) don't work
with the iptables binary from your distribution.
Which specific optional features your canned iptables binary was compiled
with depends on your distribution. If you get 'no target/match by that
name', or 'unable to open /lib/iptables/foo.so', then probably that feature
is missing, and your best bet is to recompile iptables from source. Note
that you need the wolk kernel source tree to compile iptables with all
optional features.
