Hyperthreading headaches continue.txt
(text/plain, 1.3 KB)
Hi Marc, I dropped a 3,2 GHz P4 into my Gigabyte GA-8KNXP (Intel-875P) based system a few days ago and have had some headaches since. - 70% of the boots fail during framebuffer initialization (ATI rage 128 based card) with HT enabled: black screen, no oops, Initialization of the framebuffer with vga=0x317 - System freezes randomly - it will run between 2 min. and 3 days before stopping without a oops or anything else. The 4.10-pre7 kernel detects the CPUs and initializes them correctly, thanks to your previous work. If I disable HT in the BIOS, the sustem is stable as a rock. If you have the time to chase this problem down, I will try to get the system to spit out some usefull debuging information. If on the otherside, you are waiting for 2.4.23aa or higher, I will wait and give it a try then.
