I have the same problem. My only boxes running WOLK are both production,
so testing kernels is definitely out of the question. I wait until a
"stable" release is announced and try that out on the box that's less
critical. If there's any problem at all, I usually just fall back to the
previous release and wait until the next stable one comes out. Not much
room for experimentation unfortunately.
