The date stamp is more than a year old ... probably from when I first
installed the system.

Well, I'll be ... the run level was set at 3.  When I changed it to 5 xdm
runs at boot.  How in the world did it get set to 3?  I haven't messed
with that file in months (more than 6) and I've rebooted several times in
the past two to three months.  I must be losin' it.
