A better architecture might be to use something like the W3C verifiable
credential system with a zero-knowledge proof, so that there is no
transfer of information beyond what is needed, and so that the user=E2=80=
=99s
age does not necessarily have to be stored on the computer they use,
but only a link to a credential provider.

But that might just be a higher level than the mechanisms you described.
