One interesting thought is renaming binary builds to include the use
flags and arch i.e:=20

evolution-1.2.4_ssl_mozilla_ldap_spell_pda_kerberos-pentium4.tbz=20

this isn't directly related to the installer but more to the maintenance
of packages across lots of machines. Having the ability to build
descriptive binary packages and to install them when the arch/use flags
match up  would be a boon. Instead ppl have to make sure they are using
the exact use flags across multiple machines to leverages binary
packages.=20

Dunno if its good or what, but I imagine there are only a few ~3-5 ways
most packages will get built.. i used evolution as an example because
its got a huge amount of use flags.=20

so heres how this _could_ tie into a install process ( and where
something like the p2portage idea _could_ be interesting )=20

if we extend poteus or porteus2 to have the ability to grab a digest of
packages on the distmirrors that includes binary builds. If the arch/use
flags match up for that _release_ (would have to tie releases to
gcc/glib updates i would think ) then the user could just fetch the
prebuilt.. or chose what prebuilt they want from a list of whats there
or somthing to that effect.=20

all optional of course, but its more flexible than GRP.=20

Just somthing the above made me think about.=20
