Hi all
We're trying to nail down all the requirements for the NEW version of
the PackageManagementSystem after trawling through the Forums I have
drafted a basic list of requirements. You can find it here:

Now is the time to make any final requests for functionality of the
package manager. By this I mean the core system and not the user
interface. It's also an opportunity for the powers that be (zach et al.)
to accept/reject/prioritize ideas in this list.

Also welcome would be contributions of use case scenarios which will be
added to the document.

I type 'install package' on my PC
A server PC get's my request and knowing what I already have installed
on my machine calculates the dependecies for me.
The server then checks it's caceh to see if it has already build my
package(s) and if so delivers them to my PC.
Otherwise it builds my package(s) and stores them in it's cache before
delivering them to my PC.
My PC installs the recieved package.

In this scenario the user's PC does not maintain a list of software
installed on it but defers that responsibility to the Server. It's not
typical of how an average desktop PC will operate. It is important to
collect as many of these less-than-usual setups as possible and only
*you* know how you wan't to run your setup :)
