Allegro (and Lisp) are wonderful for building web-based applications. Look at Allegro Serve (http://opensource.franz.com/aserve/) or mod-lisp (http://www.fractalconcept.com/asp/fe4/sdataQGWl$o98C1phDM==/sdataQuMh- N3qe0jUC1B=) as examples.
