Your code example is incomplete, so it is really heard to tell, but did
you mean for last-input and last-tick to be different variables?

Does your code give you a segv if it is interpreted (not compiled)?

I assume you've done a :zoom to get the stack trace.  Have you looked at
the output of :local to see if all the variables have the values you expect?
