The different empirical disciplines that take the acclamation of knowledge as their object of study use world views as explanatory factors. The "strong" hypothesis in sociology of science (see Stephen Woolgar and Bernard Bloor), makes science strongly dependant on social and cultural factors (among which world views are prominent).
