Fair enough. Let me rephrase my point:

 How many md5 interfaces do we need?

So there could be:

(defsystem md5
     :depends-on (#+CMU :md5-cmucl
                  #+CLISP :md5-clisp
                  ...

To my mind two primary benefits of repositories are:

 - Ensuring continuiety. The code will be available even if
   the author's website folds.

 - Bringing order into chaos.

Just my 2 cents. I do realize that these may not be common goals or goals
of CCLAN, and I do realize that some may perceive greater value in
repositories as listings or search tools.
