doing stuff at "install time" with asdf and asdf-install

what's the best way to perform actions after a component has been 
installed (ie at asdf-install:install time)? i was thinking about 
creating on asdf:install-op class, but a) in order to be usefull it 
would require being a part of the "official" asdf and b) i have a hard 
time believing someone hasn't wroked around this problem already.
