If you can find a cclan maintainer to give you write access (or you already have it), please feel free to replace/update the version of asdf-install therein, because it's only a copy of the SBCL version anyway > I've also written a little tutorial for ASDF-INSTALL > aimed at > "newbies" which can be found at > > <http://weitz.de/asdf-install/>. Off the top of my head: 1) I would spend less time in the introduction apologising for the poor state of CL library installation. Newbies are not interested in historical background. (I would replace the whole paragraph starting "Unfortunately" with something along the lines of "Hitherto these libraries have had to be installed manually, an often complex process. However, many library authors are now packaging their systems using the new ASDF-INSTALL standard, allowing for automatic installation on any Lisp system that supports it". Or something) 2) When explaining about ASDF you've said "ASDF-INSTALL" a couple of times where I think you really meant "ASDF" 3) The most common asdf installation problem, as observed on #lisp IRC, is that people add directories to the *central-registry* without the trailing #\/ on the namestring. I'd suggest that you add a note to caution people that it is needed and that Weird Stuff will happen if it's omitted. 4) if "oos" is an unintuitive name, "operate" does exactly the same thing. Once upon a time I had plans to deprecate the name "oos" in favour of "operate", but enough people seem to be using it now that I'll never have the cnagce. So, choose whichever you prefer; I'll keep both. > PS: Daniel, if I'm not mistaken there are no license > files and > copyright notes in the asdf-install directory. Same licence terms as for ASDF itself, whatever they are (probably public domain). It wouldn't hurt to add somthing to that effect, no.
