I've used ASDF for the last several years. when I first started
integrating ASDF in Common Lisp Controller, I found that ADSF did not
support logical pathnames well. With that finding, CLC has moved away
from logical pathnames.

I use it every day, I just don't use logical pathnames. Instead, I
have a directory of symlinks to the .asd files and I push that
directory's pathname onto asdf:*central-registry* in my Lisp
initialization files.
