My main thought is that /replacing/ ASDF is a vaporous goal. Something
you will never globally achieve, maybe.

Better to think about a successor then replacement. As long as your
stuff is able to depend on ASDF systems, and as long as you are able
to extend ASDF to depend on your stuff, you don't need to win a huge
war: whatever you do will immediately be a useful part of the overall
ecosystem.
