"plan, then execute" is one of the major (mis?)features of ASDF. While I have often wanted it, calling a system that behaves like that ASDF is just confusing. While the change may be practically backwards-incompatible, it is a major headache to deal with when people start actually using it -- since system depending on it will *not* work on older ASDF versions. YASDF, ASDF2, ASDF.REC, GKSDF, whatever -- and I *like* the idea, but not calling it ASDF.
