Beta testers for New Cl-HTTP Lispworks and MCL Port

We are looking for some people to beta test the new CL-HTTP ports to  
LispWorks (4.4.6 & 5.0) and MCL (5.1).

Both platforms have many improvements, but the LispWork platform has  
all kinds of SSL capabilities that need some testing, especially  
client certificates.

If you are willing to run your application using the new version and  
report bugs (or even fixes) to the developers, you could become a  
lucky beta-tester!

The system seems to work fine in our applications and testing, but  
there is need to try out corner cases and other configurations.

Similar opportunities will be available for Genera, CMUCL, SCL, and  
ACL as those ports are updated for the latest round of changes. Right  
now, the only other port handling SSL is SCL.

Anybody interested in bringing the CMUCL and ACL ports up to the  
current SSL rev for CL-HTTP should contact the developers. This  
should involve configuring the port to call the LW implementation's  
SSL interface -- and doing some FFI work to the OpenSSL X.509 code to  
obtain the full client SSL capabilities.

We are converging now on a prerelease and moving towards a full  
release of the new system.

In case you are wondering, www.cl-http.org began running LispWorks  
5.0 for the production servers this afternoon. You may notice  
snappier responses and less trouble with dialup clients.
