fast configuration for cl-http under lispworks?

I am running a web-based tool built on cl-http 70.216 running on  
lispworks 5.0.1 on a dual-processor 3 GHz dual-core Intel Xeon Mac  
with 2 Gb of memory. I've started getting a little heavier access  
lately, from a user population of almost 300 users, and I find that  
lispworks freezes for spans of time (sometimes as much as a minute)  
at a time. Which I don't understand, because my system appears to be  
only lightly loaded in terms of computational and memory use. Is  
there a high-volume production configuration file for Lispworks,  
which would hopefully help with that? My version of cl-http has the  
file "configuration-fast.lisp" in the mcl examples folder, but no  
lispworks equivalent that I could find.
