I should mention that port forwarding on the local machine can be done  
with the
'natd' program.

      natd -- Network Address Translation daemon

I once did use it successfully under Mac OS X - but don't ask me where  
I have my
notes how I configured it :-( .

One can write a config file for natd, a start up file for natd and  
have the port forwarding started
automatically at boot time.

For "Mac OS X Server" (the Apple server version of Mac OS X) users,  
there is already
a configuration for natd, which just needs to be edited.

If somebody has a working natd configuration recipe, it would be kind  
to post it here as a reference.
