There have been some long-standing bugs in the opentransport interface losing call-backs from the OS side and now there are issue hanging waiting to send acks. Someone needs to beet on the networking layer, perhaps with the flogger running in both directions, and wring out any residual bugs to really get the networking solid under load and scale. This should in principle be possible under Mac OS X.
