Parts of commands that need to be substituted by actual values are highlighted
in a particular way:

Most probably you have reused a build directory for re-configuring with
different configure options. This does not work. Always run "../configure ...."
in a fresh (empty) subdirectory of the clisp top directory.

If you actually want to build with FFI, you need to first install libffcall.
