Thanks for the pointer! Yes, I agree, this format is well adapted for human reading. Should we convert the new part (2.50 and newer) of the NEWS file to this format, and add a Makefile.devel rule that generates a NEWS-2.50.html file from it? (It's not worth spending time on the parts of this file that apply to 2.49 and older.)
