Gsoc: Multithreading support inquiry

I'm eager for MT to be fixed, as anyone can tell who has followed
the mailing lists.

I've been using it for some years now with limited success.
That is, mostly it seems to work, but there are things that cause 
it to crash.  I try to avoid those things but don't always succeed.
It's far from obvious, but I imagine maybe possible, that they are 
all ultimately caused by hash tables.
