update-view-from-class

Hello,

While doing the update-view-from-class stuff I have to compare a slot 
definition agains the corresponding (i.e. names match) attribute in the 
table to be able to decide whether the column has to be altered or not.

Unfortunately the function list-attribute-types (which queries the 
database columns) and the function database-generate-column-
definition (which looks at slot definition) speaks different language.

Is there an ongoing effort to unify the two? Am I missing something, 
another useful function here?

Note:
I could not find a class or structure that describes an SQL database 
column. I think this class would be a good candidate for the common 
language between the functional and OO style. Well, the OO slot-
definition is quite close.

So, I'm stuck, any ideas?
