Perhaps one day, though I'm not aware of anyone working on Firebird
support. But, if it is does become one of the more important free
databases as you prognosticate, I imagine someone will work on CLSQL
support for it.

Besides direct native support, if someone has written an ODBC wrapper
for Firebird, CLSQL will likely work with it now using its ODBC
backend.
