Works fine with the 1.2.12c release. However, with the current CVS
version I get errors like

  * (NET.ASERVE.CLIENT:DO-HTTP-REQUEST "http://www.cormanlisp.com/")


  Type-error in KERNEL::OBJECT-NOT-BASE-CHAR-ERROR-HANDLER:
     468 is not of type BASE-CHAR

in CMUCL as well as in LW.
