Hi Fred,

Sorry, I was not too specific. The machine is running Linux x86_64:

Linux 2.6.9-22.ELsmp #1 SMP Mon Sep 19 18:00:54 EDT 2005 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

DISPLAY=localhost:11.0

CMU Common Lisp 19b (19B), running on talisker.mdx.ac.uk
With core: /mdx/local/lib/cmucl/lib/lisp.core
Dumped on: Tue, 2005-06-28 01:09:58+01:00 on lorien
See <http://www.cons.org/cmucl/> for support information.
Loaded subsystems:
    Python 1.1, target Intel x86
    CLOS based on Gerd's PCL 2004/04/14 03:32:47

* (require :clx)
; Loading #P"/mdx/local/lib/cmucl/lib/subsystems/clx-library.x86f".
Warning: XLIB previously used the following packages:
  (#<The LISP package, 1824/3459 internal, 978/1227 external>)

Here, I am a bit suspicious about CLOS. I've been using garnet on my laptop that runs linux (no need for ssh), and I think I alswys compiled it without CLOS.

Now, compiling garnet (after the prepare-compile, and garnet-loader have loaded fine) gives the following error:

; home:garnet/opal/x.x86f written.
; Compilation finished in 0:00:01.
;;; Loading #P"/home/rvb/garnet/opal/x.x86f".
Invalid number of arguments: 3

  1: Return NIL from load of "garnet/garnet-compiler.lisp".
  2: [ABORT   ] Return to Top-Level.

I tried to continue, but there were about 30 errors, and the compiled garnet would run properly. I am stuck. It's a shame, cuz the server is very fast, I'd love to be able to use it. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Cheers,
Roman

	It's hard to imagine how one could debug this without access to the CLX
	you are using. Can you give a pointer to it? Can you describe your
	complete environment: OS, architecture, etc.?

	Besides this, I have no problems using CLX over SSH links. I just ran
	garnet on a machine connected by an SSH link where my display
	environment variable is localhost:11.0.
