I hadn't thought of this before but I have to agree with Andreas and Hannu that the new version is easier to type. One minor thing is that I'd rather have C-c C-k d instead of C-c C-k M-d (and similar combinations). I see that the M-d variant seems more logical but it is also rather inconvenient to use.
