Making < > no delimiters

Hi,

as I told already on c.l.l., I want <> to be recognized as part of a symbol
for class names.  Unfortunately, I cannot perfectly initialize ilisp to
recognize that.  More precisely, if I put the line

(set-ilisp-value 'ilisp-symbol-delimiters "^ \t\n\('\"#\)")

in hook functions for 'lisp-mode-hook and/or 'ilisp-load-hook in my ilisp
initialization file, using M-x cmulisp gives the error:

"You must start an inferior LISP with run-ilisp."

(On the other hand I can put them in after cmucl is running.)

Does anyone know how the correct modification would look like?

P.S.: Maybe it would make sense to let <> generally be not delimiting?
