Ok, maybe Lisa's join network isn't to blame. For rules that can generate
very large activation sets, I see in Lisa's default conflict-resolution
strategy an NCONC that is consuming lots of time. Sigh. I'm going to change
that and see what effect it has. Stay tuned...
