cannot disable macro expand prompt in stepper

I'm attempting to disable the macro expand prompt that pops up every time the stepper hits a macro. I select "Never" in the dialog below and hit OK. The entire LispWorks Preferences dialog disappears and the setting remains unchanged.

macOS 15.3.1, LW 8.0.1.
