I've already found that both the SBCL and Quicklisp maintainers flat out refuse to update the versions of ASDF that they bundle. So no bug fixes because they prefer predictability. (And even though no one's asking: yes, this attitude does degrade my morale and mean that ASDF gets less attention than it probably should.)
