Not sure if there is a (very old) bug here or just wrong expectations on my part. This a LWW only issue. Consider examples/dde/lispworks-ide.lisp. This bit of code works with Windows Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) to enable proper double-click behavior on .lisp icons. The instructions for customizing the file explorer are long out of date but one can download Types version 2.6.5 from Softpedia.com which will install an "Edit file type" item in a right-click menu that yields a GUI that matches the instructions. This customization is not needed for this question. To see the issue: 1. Arrange to load lispworks-ide.lisp in ~/.lispworks or as set in Tools/Preferences. 2. Start LWW, observe "Editor DDE Server" in the Process Browser. 3. In Tools/Saved Sessions, click "Save Now". Perhaps change "Save in directory" to your Desktop for ease in finding the saved session file. 4. Observe "Editor DDE Server" is now missing in the process list. 5. Exit LispWorks, open the saved-session. See #4. At this point, the double-click customization is lost but can be restored by 6. Eval (startup-editor-dde-server) in the listener. Otherwise, double clicking a .lisp icon will result in overlaying the active LW session with a new instance of LW listener + editor which can result in much confusion.
